Smile SnapperPrivacy Policy
- Your photos and recorded sounds stay on your device.
- There are no accounts, and we don't collect, sell or share your personal information.
- The app only uses your camera, microphone and photo library to do what you ask it to.
Who we are
Smile Snapper is an Australian business (registered business name, operated by a sole trader). In this policy, "we" and "us" means Smile Snapper. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles.
What the app accesses, and why
- Camera: to show the live camera view and take photos when you tap the shutter, a sound in Auto mode, or the self-timer.
- Microphone: only when you choose to record your own sound. Recording happens on your device.
- Photo library: to save the photos you take to your device's album, and to show your latest photo in the app.
- Flashlight: for the optional attention light and the photo flash.
- Location: only if you turn on "Include location" in Settings (it's off unless you do). It adds where each photo was taken to that photo's details on your device. We never receive it. If you share a photo, its location goes with it, so leave this off if you'd rather it didn't.
You can change these permissions at any time in your phone's settings. Some features won't work without them.
What we collect
Nothing that identifies you. Smile Snapper has no accounts or logins, and your photos and recorded sounds are not uploaded to us or anyone else. They are stored only on your device, and they are removed if you delete them or uninstall the app (photos already saved to your album stay there until you delete them).
Your app settings, such as your chosen sounds and timer preferences, are also stored only on your device.
Purchases
If you buy Smile Snapper, the purchase is handled entirely by Google Play or the Apple App Store. We never see your payment details. Google and Apple handle that information under their own privacy policies.
Sharing
When you tap Share, your phone's own share menu opens and you choose where the photo goes, such as Messages, WhatsApp or Instagram. That app's privacy policy then applies. We don't share anything ourselves.
Children
Smile Snapper is designed for adults (parents, carers and pet owners) to use. Photos of children taken with the app stay on the adult's device and are never sent to us. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
This website
smilesnapper.com.au does not use cookies, analytics or tracking. Like most websites, our hosting provider may keep standard server logs (such as IP addresses) for security and reliability.
Changes to this policy
If the app changes in a way that affects your privacy (for example, adding optional cloud backup in a future version), we will update this policy and the date at the top before that change takes effect.
